Resolved

Alright, time to dig out. Chrimbo has come & gone, and I'm trying to figure out why I had such the allergic reaction to it this year. There must be something to learn from it. In good time...

So, it's New Year's Eve. There must be something in the air --odd vapours, peculiar plasms-- because I'm feeling the inclination to make resolutions.

Seriously.

You see, ordinarily I don't hold with That Type Of Thing; you know, gin-fuelled, ill-considered attachment to unreasonable goals, followed by disappointment and self-criticism when they're not met. But of late I've been bouncing a few ideas off of mental walls. Weighing them up. Poking them. Prodding them. Nothing life-transforming, you understand, but I suppose this is as good a time as any to stop molesting them and adopt them. So, without any further ado, I resolve to:
  1. Get in shape for the 2009 Vancouver Sun Run

  2. Start taking gee-tarr lessons

  3. Listen to more music

  4. Volunteer, cos talking about change isn't enough

  5. Sort out that thing that I should have sorted out ages ago
I would be grateful if you could see your way to helping me stick to them... A very happy, compassionate, and rockin' 2009 to you all, Dearest Friends!

Running???? That's the beginning of your mid-life crisis amigo. Let yourself gow (and grow) disgracefully. After all, the few years you add on at the end of your life will only be spent in a nursing home having your bum wiped by strangers.....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

You say "having your bum wiped by strangers" as though it was a bad thing ;-)

Well some bums are stranger than others ;)

I'll support ya in whatever you and your bum endeavor to do, darling xoxoxo! Happy New Year!

I only run in emergencies, but if that's what you want then best of luck to you x.

Thanks for making me laugh so often in 2008, and Happy Happy 2009.

It'll be FiL and 58,999 other people running that particular day.

I can easily support this one cuz then I'm not the only crazy here :D

Happy 2009 to the FiL and fam.

I don't know much about running, never trying to do any of it myself unless exceptionally late for the train, but I do notice that the people passing me in the park doing it never look especially....well...or indeed....happy.

Possibly, this may be why they are running, I accept (cause v effect, chicken v egg, pop v rock...) x

I go running!!! Well, I did. I should start again. It is, to my mind, fucking cold round here at the moment but I suspect it is rather more balmy here than it is there, so if you need a running partner, somebody else to say "tonight, gotta be done, no excuses" then I'm your man. I'll even promise to look chirpy if I run past Davy.

Dearest FiL these are some awesome resolutions! I am behind you 100%.

Here's to the new year and here's to living fuller and richer lives!

p.s. Word verification is chimmoly... Perhaps a melody hummed by chimney cleaners?

Running's bad for the knees! So I'll encourage you to sort out that thing.

oh, i will totally support the running thing and i can help with the new music thing too, although purely cyberistically, of course.

don't let old jc dissuade you--i feel much better now than i did when i was your age and exercising regularly has made all the difference!

i wish i could help you sort out that thing but, well, you know how that goes. some sorting must be done solely on premises.

my word verification was penie--wonder what that means?? : )

I too have resolved to start running. Mrs. C&B is a fitness nut and she never ever gets sick. I, however, am not so fit and in the last 5 years I have had 478 colds, 54 flus, 39 sinus infections, cancer, and right now am recovering from a flare-up of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, which some shkanky sorority girl gave me in college. Run, like me, to avoid man breasts.

I also am under pressure to learn the guitar, because my mother-in-law gave me a nice acoustic one about 18 months ago. I haven't figured out how to tune the confounded thing yet, but I understand that fingers and arms are somehow implicated.

As for sorting out "that thing," I'd start with an antibiotic ointment and then move into palpation, but take it slow to avoid chafing. Trust me. I know.

My word verification is "equerst," which is Latin for "horsiest."

Fil:

Bring your shoes to DC. Saturday, we'll do 5 miles before getting really, really drunk. Good practice for the run and for the end of it. See you in a few weeks...

Hi Fil

Hope all is well....we miss you.

I'm thinking that number 5 should be my resolution too ... but I doubt I'll have time. :(
