Dearest Friends, I apologise for not having posted as often and as fulsomely as I would have liked during the past week. You know all the reasons - flu, bachelorhood (have now learned to distinguish between washer and dryer), etc. But I still apologise.
I proffer further apologies for the fact that I will once again be taking a long-weekend hiatus from posting. Yes, I'll be spending the Labour Day holiday on --surprise, surprise-- Mayne Island, and that means this postlet will be the last missive from me until the middle of next week. I must cry off so soon in order to direct my energies into...
I'm afraid I can't tell you any more. People might be watching, you know (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). My lips are sealed and fingers stayed, for the moment.
Have a lovely weekend.

Dear Fil. What's a "Neptune bigot"? Is it the shady pressure group which was so successful in lobbying for the demotion of Pluto just because it cluttered up the neighbourhood? Are there not some things in which cheese-eating music monkeys should not dabble? I think your public desperves to be told the truth.
Ah, Dear, Foolish Enda. You ask too much. You know too much. Please desist, lest you be found at the bottom of a cheese vat, sleeping with the curds...

Love that Secret Machine song. It must have been released before your birth. Imagine what the neo-mods would have been like if they were on Angel speed instead of the comparatively weak pills generally available at the time.
You get special props for posting "Secret", one of the 7" singles I bought when I lived with Auntie Mame in London ca. 1985.
XOXO
BTW, have I told you that you are my fave blogger ever?
Ok just for future reference I don't generally enjoy delayed gratification...So next time if you could just take me aside and tell me that would be grand.
I do forgive you though because you posted QUOTSA and the feel good pop of OMD. But just this once. ;)
Do have a safe trip and a relaxing enjoyable long weekend. And I will anxiously await you and la familia safe return.
~Rachel
Ha, I know the secret but am sworn to secrecy. I could tell you but I'd have to kill you.... Sorry.
Have a great time FiL and give her a big kiss from us over here....

And for enda, http://www.ww2omahabeach.com/ explains the map.
The Top Secret bit is obvious (it suggests that it was an American document as I believe the UK used "Most Secret" at the time)- the additional code words are generally added to identify additional clearance or a "need to know" indoctrinated group - ie you had to be briefed and sign onto a list to identify those who had been indoctrinated into some special knowledge/source/operation/method etc.

*stomps feet*
I wanna knoooooooooowwwwwwwwwww ....
Should be safe to tell you by now..... It is FiL's wifey's birthday and two of their friends have gone to see her from the UK. I wanted to go but having just had two weeks leave to look after my son F I couldn't while another of the gang couldnt cos he has to do some more days filming for his new film... So we are missing seeing the FiL family over on the Island and are very sad not to be there to share in Wifey's birthday celebrations!
T
PS - the verification word is "Wedin" - and the last time we were all on the Island was for FiL and Wifey's wedding - many years ago!
PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY J. xxx
coxon, you kick ass!!! Just because.
Ok FiL you can come back anytime now, the new Contrast Podcast is up and the next theme was announced...And...Well you are missed.
Always the sign of a good blog...when readers start climbing the walls when you've been gone a couple days!
Dearest Friends, apologies for the delay in responding...
Mr Beer n Hockey, you flatter me, but I was born several years before Secret Affair released 'Time for Action' in 1979. And if they had been on angel dust, they'd probably have eaten their Fred Perry shirts. And sounded like Alvin & the Chipmunks.
Dearest T, thank you for your most judicious management of classified information, and for the intel tutorial. I'd have expected no less!! Still very sad you couldn't join us...
Dearest Bryce, I'm glad I brought back happy memories. OMD are one of those bands that I forget about for yonks, but when I do remember them, I recall that I actually spnt large chunks of my yoof listening to them. And thank you for your most kind words - I blushed something fierce when I read them. Big X's and O's to you too.
Dearest Coxon, my apologies, but I fear operational needs dictated secrecy...
Dearest Rachel, thank you for your forgiveness! And yes, Coxon does kick ass...
Dearest Colin - aw, shucks. I missed y'all as well. I'm looking forward to getting back into the saddle.
Dearest Mentok, I find it quite humbling...
